Local Priorities

Retail Crime

Issued: 10 Mar 2026

Status Update

We’re increasing high-visibility patrols in key retail areas, particularly during peak shopping times, to help prevent crime and reassure businesses. We’re also working closely with local retailers to strengthen their crime-prevention measures, including CCTV, staff training and improved reporting processes. Alongside this, we are identifying and targeting prolific shoplifters and organised retail crime groups to disrupt their activity and reduce offending.

Anti-Social Behaviour (including motorcycle related disorder)

Issued: 10 Mar 2026

Status Update

We’re increasing high-visibility patrols across Wallsend to tackle anti-social behaviour, with particular attention on areas affected by motorcycle-related disorder. Our officers are regularly deploying to local hotspot locations to deter offending, provide reassurance, and respond quickly to community concerns.
We’re working closely with partners—including the local authority, housing teams and community wardens—to identify offenders and put long-term solutions in place. Targeted operations are also being carried out to locate and seize illegally ridden or unregistered motorcycles linked to disorder.
We will continue engaging with residents, businesses, and community groups to gather information and ensure our activity remains focused on what matters most to the people of Wallsend.

Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

Issued: 10 Mar 2026

Status Update

We remain committed to protecting women and girls in our community and ensuring they feel safe in their daily lives. Our officers are carrying out focused patrols in areas where concerns have been raised, including parks, transport routes and local centres, to provide reassurance and deter harmful behaviour.
We’re working closely with specialist support services, the local authority and community partners to identify vulnerability early, offer safeguarding, and take decisive action against perpetrators. This includes acting on reports of harassment, intimidation and unwanted behaviour, as well as supporting victims through every stage of the process.
Our neighbourhood team continues to engage with local groups, schools and community organisations to raise awareness, encourage reporting and strengthen safety within our area. By listening to the voices of women and girls, we can ensure our approach directly reflects their experiences and priorities.
